Words of Advice
Remember you are only 8 Degree south of the EQUATOR –Temperatures range from 21 to 33 degrees Celsius. Sunburn is common & can ruin your holiday, so COVER UP!
ALWAYS use waterproof sun block if you plan on getting wet, & don’t forget to get those ears, neck, feet and bald heads! Wear sunglasses and hats when outdoors and don’t forget to drink LOADS of water.
WARNING signs
When swimming in the sea, beware of strong currents, even if you are a good swimmer! Only swim between the red and yellow flags on the beaches as they are there for your safety.
Adventure Sports - make sure you have personal insurance or travel insurance that will cover any accidents.
Petty crime
- There have been a few cases of hand bags being snatched after tourists have cashed money at the banks or Money Changers. Do remember to carry your money safely or hold your hand bag tightly and close to you.
- When changing large amounts of money please check notes carefully as there are some (noticeably) fake notes in circulation.
- When trying on garments do not take your jewelry off and do not leave it lying around. It’s best to leave it in a safe place.
Street vendors – they can be over bearing at times, however they are trying to make a living, so please be understanding and FIRM!! If you would like to lodge a complaint, please do so by taking down their vendor-card details and reporting to the nearest Police Post or Police station. If you don’t want to be pestered, it is best to not look at the “wares”, avoid all eye contact. Remember in Indonesia, if you ask the price you must want to buy.
